There are so many stories and legends that hold within them the importance of the Witch’s Broom. We even see it in modern day movies, such as the Harry Potter series. Although they have often been associated with flying, the Witch’s Broom has many more uses than that. The flying aspect actually has to do with astral projection. Often witches who practice astral projection will create a sacred space from which to safely do that. This is where the Witch’s Broom comes in.
The Witch’s Broom can be used to dispell negative energies and create sacred space. By sweeping negative energy away with the broom, you are uplifting the energy of the space to a more positive, more sacred vibration. Smaller brooms can also be used in the fashion by sweeping negative energy away from the auric field of a person.
Witch’s Brooms come in a variety of shapes, sizes and designes. Pictured here are just two examples of that. The large one is one that I purchased at a grocery store. I chose it because it had a wooden handle. Once purchased or acquired, you can “doctor it up” according to your own creativity and desires. This one has symbols painted on it that represent certain energy flows, a piece of horse tail that embodies the strength and power of the horse, an eagle feather that represents a higer perspective on everything, a magpie feather that represents the connection to the Ancestors, and bells and such to create sound vibrations when the broom is being used. I also have some crystals attached for specific energy flow.
The smaller one I bought at a local witch supply store many years ago. It was designed and created in Africa, and I absolutely love the way it feels when I hold it. That is the hand-held Witch’s Broom that I use when working on healing the energy on my clients. The larger one I use in ceremony and whenever I am creating sacred space.
When using a larger Witch’s Broom, once can also utilize it to acces energetic flow from the Earth and from the Sky. Once you have established your sacred space, simply sit quietly, holding your Witch’s Broom in an upright position. Close your eyes and feel the energy of the Earth flowing up through the Witch’s Broom. This is where the wooden handle comes in. Wood is a natural conduit for energy flow. As it flows up through the Witch’s Broom you may begin to feel a pulsing sensation in your palms as you hold the handle. That sensation will most likely then extend up your arms and into your body, filling you with the strength of Earth energy. You may also feel tingles through the handle of the Witch’s Broom as the energy of the Sky flows downward through it. This energy will also be able to flow up your arms and into your body. This energy flow of both Earth and Sky will create within your energy body a perfect polarity in the chakra system. This means that it harmonizes each chakra and it creates balance between all the chakras, creating a perfect blend of energies throughout.
There are, of course, many ways in which to accomplish this balance of flow through the energy system. The Witch’s Broom is just one such way of doing so. But once this is done, it does become much easier to then zip into a state of astral projection or shamanic journeying. This is something that should not, however, be used as a crutch. The ability to astral project or do a shamanic journey is something that must never rely completely upon any tool or medicine plant. It is something that is natural to our being, and although things like medicine plants and the Witch’s Broom can be used to “open the door” so-to-speak, once that door has been opened, we now have the key within our brains and our various levels of consciousness to simply do that on our own. After all, we do not always have the convenience of having a medicine plant or a a Witch’s Broom at our disposal 24/7.
I encourage you, the reader, to try out the Witch’s Broom. Take it for a “test drive” and see if this is something that feels like it resonates for you. Remember that when you are working with the Witch’s Broom you are also accessing the ancient wisdom practices of your ancestors. As such, you just may encounter a few of them who come along to help you learn and grow!
