We hear alot about the “art of manifestation” these days, but I have noticed that not many people actually understand how it works. Often people think that all they need to do is say what they want, or pray for what they want, and BAM the Universe provides it. Although the Universal consciousness is indeed a part of it, that is not all there is to it.
What we need to understand is that we are, as individuals, as humans, much more powerful than we give ourselves credit for. We have a very powerful mind, and that mind, when we learn to use it properly, can achieve great things. Let’s look at some simplified definitions.
Superconscious Mind: This is the terrain, the spirit, the sense of purpose. It is the part of us that knows, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that we are eternally connected to “something.” That something can be defined in many ways. I personally prefer to define it as Spirit, or Universal Consciousness. But you can choose how you wish to refer to it.
Conscious Mind: This is the navigator. The conscious mind is the one that chooses what the reality we want may or may not be. It is the one that navigates the terrain in this realm, but also in other realms. When we train the conscious mind to be alert to the realms and to get to know the realms, we give ourselves an essential tool for manifestation. Our conscious mind makes our decisions for us, based upon what we desire. However, we have to also understand that the conscious mind can make decisions for us based upon fear and upon a sense of self-preservation. If the conscious mind has been conditioned to live in a constant state of fear, then we end up manifesting that which we fear instead of that which we desire.
Subconscious Mind: This is the manifestor. Without it we are ineffective in manifestation, no matter how hard we try. This is the intuitive part of use that understands completely that it can generate whatever it is that we desire. All it needs is the direction to make the manifestation work. It looks to the conscious mind for that direction. For example, the conscious mind may be wanting to look for better sources of income. The subconscious mind will take that direction and lead one to a variety of opportunities from which to choose. At the same time, if the conscious mind is obsessed with a sense of lack, then that is what the subconscious mind will lead one to.
This is why it is so important to know what the motivation is for the manifestation. We cannot properly manifest good things if we are coming from a negative space within the conscious mind. My ceremonial drum circles are based upon this principal. In the circle, we program energy to assist us. This is why it is important to come to a circle such as this with a clear mind. When we bring clutter into the circle we sabotage our own manifestation as well as that of others in the circle. This is why we do a smudge ceremony to begin with, so that we can clear our energies and hopefully our minds before proceeding with the ceremony. The smoke of the smudge also provides a link to the Spirit realm.
This is also why I smudge myself and the other person before performing a healing on them. For me, the healing work that I do is a ceremony or ritual. I go into this with clear intent and an open heart. As I smudge the person their energy prepares for the healing energy as well. Then the invitation to heal begins.
I once had a client bring her elderly mother to me for healing. She sat at the far side of the studio I was working in while I performed the healing work on her mother at the other end of the studio. Although there were around 20 feet between her location and our location she could still observe from a distance. When I was done and we joined her back at the other end of the studio she commented, “I obviously have had my eyes closed during my own healings because I had no idea that what you do is similar to a ritual dance. I knew you chanted and sang, but the dance was so beautiful as well! I was missing out on so much!” I explained that it was not something she needed to observe to benefit from the flow of energy and that the dance would likely be distracting from her inner awareness if she focussed on it.
This brings me another aspect around manifestation. You have, I am sure, heard the expression, “Knock on wood.” Most folks think of that as a way of eliminating any form of jinx for what they are wanting to appreciate, celebrate or manifest. And it does do that. But this comes from much older traditions wherein one would speak their desires to the trees and then knock on the trunk of the tree to ask the spirit of the tree for its assistance. What knocking also does is ground the intent. So, when I am manifesting something I will knock on something, such as my altar top, table top or, yes, even a tree trunk if I happen to be outdoors. Another form of knocking is using a drum to create an hypnotic rhythm to which one can chant or sing. Even humming does the trick because humming will calm the Vagus nerve which allows us to then access our deeper consciousness and meditative or transe states. You can also use a rattle to create the rhythmic sound waves. And as you do, it works even better if you at least sway back and forth or side to side with the rhythm. This activates the energy flow within the cells of the body which then emanate everything that we are speaking/chanting/singing outward into the Universe, thus enhancing the manifestation.
As we incorporate all these aspects into the manifestation process we dramatically raise the likelihood of the manifestation coming to fruition.
