Has anyone else out there considered the possibility of Alien Invasion? I know many would think it insane to even consider the possibility. Many would think it possible by, say, tomorrow at 6pm. I am somewhere in the middle on this one. I am not a conspiracy theorist. But I do think that humans being the only species in the universe would be a vast waste of space. I don’t think that it is likely that we are alone.
But something I have often wondered is what possible motivation an Alien race would have for invading our world? Yes, natural resources abound. But this is a planet filled with fear mongering, hate-filled tribal warfare. Why would anyone want a piece of THAT?
We humans often think that we are so enlightened, so spiritual, so righteous. But we are not. We start wars, we threaten wars, we participate in human trafficking, we use an abuse one another in multiple ways each and every day. And we have such a strong denial system happening that we always think that we are better than others and that this stuff does not happen in our community, in our neighbourhood, in our own homes. But it does. We might as well stop pretending, because the existence of the most vile aspects of human nature is definitely there, alive and well.
If I were an Alien, I would take one look at our pathetic species and decide that this vermin has to be extinguished….before it learns too much about space travel!
So why are we humans so vile at times? I know that it is not ALL the time, but when it rears its ugly head it does so in spades. So why? Well, the human mind is actually hard wired to be addicted to negativity. That’s right. HARD WIRED. To be ADDICTED. To NEGATIVITY. How did that happen? Thousands of years ago, when we were living in caves, we had to learn, for survival purposes, to be very aware of danger all around us. After all, there could be a sabre toothed tiger just around the bend. Ever since then we have not just focussed upon the possible negativity, we have actually become addicted to the adrenaline that rushes through us during times of negativity. That is now, in this day and age, what sells action movies at the box office and what sells the news at 11:00. And if we were to believe all that we see in terms of negativity, we would actually have to believe as well that it is always completely unsafe to step out the door and go into the world. Many people have great anxiety about doing just that.
When we, as a species, are addicted to negativity and the possible effects of it, we also bridge into becoming addicted to acting in negative ways, and being negative people. It sets us into an “us vs. them” mentality. Then we see only the distinctions between things…those things that make each thing and each person something that either fits into or is outside of the social expectation. This breeds such things as misogyny, racism. gender biases, age biases and so on. It completely gets out of hand and no one feels any power to stop any of it.
But here is the thing….and believe me, there is a THING. You do actually have the ability to make changes in the world. You start with yourself…no one else. You look at those aspects within yourself that help to promote biases and hatred, and you change those within yourself. It does take time, and it does take great effort. But anything that our minds have learned they can un-learn and anything that we want to focus our minds on we can become equally addicted to, so why not start focussing on the POSITIVE?
In doing that we are able to shift our desires and our reality. We are able to see the goodness in the world and in fellow human beings. What I mentioned earlier about how vile humans are…I don’t actually believe that. I was only making a point. We do have the capacity to become the most amazing beings. We just need to re-focus our minds so that we can connect to the goodness in all things and in all people.
We are all one. We are all one with ourselves. We are all one with each other. We are all one with Nature. We are all one with the Universe. Now…let’s start acting like it, shall we?
