Sometimes when I tell people that I do energy healing for people, what folks will respond with is stuff like, “Oh, I don’t believe in that stuff” or “So you are a faith healer”. Actually, I am not a faith healer. You really don’t have to believe in anything for the work that I do to work for you. It does help it to work faster if you at least are willing to receive it.
We have all encountered people who are closed-minded. These are the ones who will not see what is right in front of them because they have stubbornly decided that they don’t want to see it and therefore will not acknowledge anything regarding that. I had a man living in my house for 4 years that was like that. To him, there was no such thing as “magic”. There was Illusion and there was Delusion. Nothing else. So having me around, being the magical and gifted person that I am, was excessively challenging for him. At that time my family had a bit of an indoor zoo happening. There were 2 dogs, 2 guinea pigs, 2 birds, 2 aquariums of various fish and a cat. I think I got them all. After a while it just blurred. Anyway, one of the birds was a cockatiel. The cat was quite afraid of her because one day she landed on her while the cat was sleeping. This freaked the cat out completely and so she would never approach the bird. The second bird, however, was a budgie. This budgie was a lot smaller and a lot more the size of the birds that the cat would hunt outside. So there was a training period involved whereby we had to make sure the cat understood that this bird was not up for grabs, was not lunch or even a nice light snack. During that training period, while this aforementioned man was reading the paper at the dining room table, the budgie decided to launch itself from the birdcage onto the floor about a foot away from the man. Fortunately I was there when this happened because the cat instinctively pounced toward the bird. I, on the other hand, instinctively let a spark of energy fly out from my pointed finger that landed between the cat and the bird with a popping sound, making them both exit in different directions. Once that was done, I was able to retrieve the budgie and put him back in his cage. The man saw what happened. He was shocked, then angry. But he was not willing to discuss what he just witnessed. So he quickly folded up his newspaper and headed to his private area to finish reading it. He never would talk about it because it challenged his reality.
When we are dealing with people who are closed-minded, it does make the healing a bit harder…for them…not for us. So I thought that it would be important to address that. You see, if you are visiting a healer you are engaging someone who has skill sets beyond what you are capable of. I have been doing this work for all my life, and I still will go to others for my personal healing because it is important to get myself out of my own way when receiving healing. We all need that. So if someone is going into a healing session with the attitude of “This is all woo woo” then what they are doing is denying themselves some of the benefits of the healing that is immediately available to them. That is not the healer’s fault, that is their own fault. When we go into a healing session to receive, we need to have a certain amount of enthusiasm within ourselves regarding our opportunity to receive When we approach it in this fashion, we receive so much better and we receive so much more.
People often don’t know how to receive well. They are so used to being the ones to always be giving that receiving becomes uncomfortable for them. I will often tell these people that “This is your opportunity to do nothing, to relax and to finally receive. And that way you will have even more that you can give to those around you.” It is amazing that, with that simple statement of permission to receive, they are often the ones who suddenly go very deep and receive like a sponge receives water. They just soak it up! And that is so what is needed for them.
I have also found that, I am sorry to say, healers themselves are often the worst at receiving. This is because their entire being is set on “give” mode and turning that switch down and turning the “receive” switch up is not something that they do very well. Most often this is because in their family of origin they were the peace keepers, the ones to console others, the ones to care for the needs of everyone around them. So it becomes hard wired to give and not so much to receive. But here is the thing. There is a switch. And you have the ability to control it. All you have to do is allow that inner part of you that has been so starving for regeneration to flip that switch for just a moment and allow the receiving to begin. You can do it! And once you do, the whole game changes. You are better able to then do your own work on your own healing path, thus giving you even more tools in the bag to put to use on behalf of others. It is so worth the time and investment.
So no, it is not a matter of faith…other than faith in yourself. It is a matter of receptivity and willingness to let go of personal control issues for just a moment while someone else cares for you. Drop the facades that are in place, and simply allow the healing to happen.
