Often when working with Shamanism there is a moment when I have to explain to a person that, no matter whether we are doing ceremony or whether we are doing energy healing or whatever, we are going on THEIR time, not my time. That means that things will progress according to their needs, not according to my agenda or the agenda of anyone else, themselves included.
The reason for this is that the healing work that I do is invitational as opposed to administrative. There are plenty of styles of healing that fall into the administrative category. Things with the client are pushed or pulled and moved about in a bit more of a demanding way. But I have found that, even though I have been trained in several of these styles, in the long run they can actually work against the client instead of with the client.
So if I find that there is a blockage in the energy system that needs to move out, I do not just push it out or pull it out. I invite it to release with ease. Every person has an energy system that contains a consciousness and innate intelligence. If we treat that innate intelligence as though it is an ignorant child and demand it simply obeys us, we will find that the positive effects of the treatment, should there be any, will be temporary. Whereas if we provide a menu from which that intelligence can actually choose what it wants and when it wants it, the effects will be much longer lasting and most often permanent.
I liken this to a computer screen. On your computer screen you will see several icons that, once you click on them, will run certain programs. When the program runs, then you are more easily able to accomplish tasks at hand. So the invitation is sort of like clicking on an icon and seeing of the innate intelligence of the energy system will actually run this program that has been dormant for sometimes years. Sometimes the energy will need a program update. So we introduce to it certain types of energy that will update that program. Some programs will be so archaic that they need to be deleted altogether. But to do that we have to also have something with which to replace it, so we offer that something ahead of time, then delete the old program of energy dysfunction. Then things run much smoother.
I have never felt that in order to gain we must experience pain. Yes, if we do experience pain we can transmute that into something of a medicine that we can not only carry but also share with others. But the pain itself is often a result of an outside influence that was never invited in the first place, and sometimes it is the result of an inner resistance to something more positive being embraced. So when we sort that out, the result can be miraculous. We are more easily able to let go of the painful stuff and allow the positive flow to run through our beings once again.
I am not going to go into infinite detail about how I accomplish the invitations. That would take years to write down and more years to have a person practice. But the message that I want to convey is that there are alternatives when it comes to healing practices and procedures. Many who are reading this are likely practitioners of one form of healing or another. Some are going to read this and think, “What? This guy is looney toons!” But others will read it and think, “Okay, so how could I incorporate this into my modality?” THAT is what I am hoping will happen. Because often with the simple question of “how?” we will be guided to find the answers that we need to make that shift. Some who will be reading this will be thinking, “Oh, ya, so that means there is no end to how long my healing will take, thus you are just making more money off of me.” That is not the issue at all. I mean, even if you were paying me to do so, I would not want to cause you pain or turmoil on your healing journey. So no, it is not that. Some will read this and think, “Ahah! THAT is why it seemed at first like nothing was happening and then, three months down the road, BAM! My life took such a turn for the better!”to which I would respond with, “Exactly.”
Invitational healing may take longer to progress and process, but it will be thorough. It will be longer lasting. It will be life affirming and life changing. Sometimes this will mean that there are other adjustments that need to take place within the self in order to make space for the changes to flow. That is alright. Make the space. Sometimes that means it will be a matter of releasing from your life what no longer serves your best interests. That is alright as well. Just let it go and move on to something with a more positive and affirming flow.
As we allow ourselves the time and the space to heal, it really does not matter which end of the ball of yarn we pick up first. It will unravel and untangle and we will find our direct path. And it becomes an amazing journey of self-discovery.
